For those of you who have too much time on their hands to make their own Sabiki rigs (primarily for anchovies)  can you recommend a good hook?

The smallest Gamakatsu I could find has size 10, which is a little large. I found some fly fishing hooks by Tiemco that look like they may work. See image below. Does anyone have experience with that?

Cheers

I make a simple 2 hook sabiki rig that I use for catching perch and use something similar to one in the top right and looks like it would work well to me. Having a barbless hook would be beneficial, those poor guys are super fragile.  Love to see your end product and how you tie it.  I just make some dropper loops and cut one side then do a palamar knot.

interested in this thread (and how you tie your sabikis)

when I was out last weekend, realized that after I caught my first RF, i could not fish my sabiki for bait - as it has 5-6 hooks on it.  I was thinking maybe I'd just cut one to make a smaller 2 hook rig - though might be easier and more fun to tie some up.

I experimented with Sabiki and have some strange (but tested) designs.. just preparing you for some bizarre rigs.
Will need more input from members before I make my next iteration

I've used size 12 red salmon egg hooks from Gamakatsu with success.

I just use this cheap bulk box of gold hooks.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07Y1MVG3M

I make them with 2 or 3 hooks and different sizes based on fish.

I put them on short dropper loops with a green bead and a dab of super glue to keep it in place.  Many times don't even add bait to it.

A lot less tangles than store bought and easy to store and re-use.

Here’s my current DIY Sabiki incarnation.
60lb for the main, for stiffness. Prevents tangles and easy to pack in a small ziplock bag. 12lb for the branches. Gamakatsu size 10 (I plan on trying smaller barbless hooks next). I tipped the hooks with strips of a used swimbait. The small plastic containers I got long time ago from Amazon. I made cuts in them with a dremel so I can store the hooks. The other cool thing about them is I can apply scent to the silicon and it stays.

Thanks!

I forgot to mention one (perhaps most important) advantage for this Sabiki - it can be loaded on the rod for surf launching, with or without the sinker. Just open the containers and it’s ready to use. Once fishing (say Salmon), you can put the containers back to minimize risk of net entanglement, without having to pack the Sabiki. It can stay on the rod and you can even land with it.

This is genius! Do you happen to have the Amazon link to the containers?

I use gold aberdeen hooks and make three branches.
20lb main line with 6lb for the branches.
I have the best luck just throwing bare hooks.

Those containers are a brilliant idea.

I've never tried making a sabiki, but I just want to second the idea of using barbless hooks--and not just for better bait survival. The most painful experience I've ever had on a kayak was a sabiki hook that got itself embedded deep into my index finger. To continue fishing, I figured I had to pull it out with my pliers, which I did. It's amazing how such a small hook can cause such a BIG owie...

That's really cool and creative. Great idea. I wonder if you could do that with one of those weekly pill containers
