Pier 47, across from J&Ps there's a place that has shaved ice 20 buck min for quite a lot- no real idea how much that is, but it filled my fish box.  When i get live bait i'll get ice there too. (did it saturday).
think they're open 5-9am

Costco, Sams, and Grocery Outlet - Bargain Market have 20# bags for $3.  When I have space, I keep 1-2 bags in the chest freezer, but now it's full of grass fed beef - so I need a new strategy.

Saturday I froze a 1/2G jug with water - that seemed to work in the Opah bag.

thinking about it on the water, realized that a couple sheets of ice would be better.  When I lived in San Diego we'd just hit the Motels in the area, and grab some of their ice - I know, was a bad kid.

for me the tough part is, where do you pick up ice if you need extra for the drive home?  you know that 7/11 and the gas stations will rape you, but is there another option?

I recalled that a few years back, MickeyD's was advertising free ice for RV's....I never took them up on that, looked it up today, apparently McD's will sell you a 8 or 10# bag for between $1 or $1.50 - which sounds like a bargain....and a good excuse to pickup a large Diet Coke and fries for the drive - you may need to ask the lead or manager for it.  I'll give this a try on my next ocean trip - let all y'alls know

Paid 5$ at the liqueur store for I think 3lbs of ice (it was not 5lbs) after fishing with you in SC.  Yeah it was a rip... But I swear if I bring ice with me, i'll skunk  :smt044

Costco 20 lb ice use to be $2.29 now is over $3, still a good deal compared to what grocery and gas stores charge.

saw this at the Santa Cruz costco, can confirm  about $3 for what looked to be 20# bags.

I have been re-using those gel-filled packs we get from Good Eggs CSA. They are nice because they don't leak freshwater all over your catch. I have WAY more than I need if you want to drop by and grab some.

I love most of the stuff that Yeti makes but their “ice” is nothing better than any other ones...

I highly recommend vacuum sealing the Good Eggs ice packs to make them a little more durable.  I noticed they are a bit on the thin side and they started getting holes a little too easily and leaking gel all over the place.  Not a big deal, just another thing to deal with.
