Just my opinion, but the price may be a bit optimistic, as I seem to recall that model sold for about $3250 new in 2020...

The price jumped to $3850 in 2021, but I believe that includes fancier mirage drives (180 and/or kick-up fins).

Boats are worth what folks are willing to pay... A buddy recently bought a Hobie Adventure for 1600; fairly certain it was bought new for less than that.

Whatever someone wants to pay is fine by my. I'm just trying to provide info that is somewhat hard to find. And, I do think it's entirely relevant that the list price of the kayak in question increased by $600 last year, and that that was for a reason (different mirage drives). Looking at the current list price, it would be easy to think that by buying this particular boat, you'd be saving $350 plus tax, but that is not actually the case, as it would be an apples-to-oranges comparison.

If the moderators tell me that it's inappropriate to provide comments/info such as this in the "for sale" forum, I'll stop doing so. Until then I will continue to do so, as I think such info can be useful.

Coincidentally, I own a 2013 Adventure (and a 2014 AI, which is an Adventure with lots of add-ons). If an Adventure has been reasonably well maintained, $1600 would be a bargain.

I think that's just looking out for each other.  It's not some anonymous arms length board, it's a group of friends.  Several actually.  What would be inappropriate on facebook or craigslist is fine here.

Of course I'm not a moderator and my opinion plus $5 will buy you a cup of coffee.

That said, the price doesn't really offend my sensibilities.  Maybe its a little high, but maybe not.  Inflation is running near double digits and the price of used boats, cars, airplanes, and other toys has gone up even faster.

I don't see any issue with what you posted.

Definitely a craigslist pricing for the current times.

Maybe not so much a NCKA pricing ?

I found this on a quick search. Not sure if it a good comparison.  http://www.sale-sports.com/products/2020-Hobie-Mirage-Compass-Duo.html

I have a 15 foot aluminum i will be selling soon that will be priced well above what it would have been pre-covid.

With rising costs on everything, not much to be said in my opinion as to his pricing. He did also post " best offer "  :smt002

I think the current price of kayaks is insane. Hobie is now asking north of 3k for a 13.5' plastic boat -- WTF. That said, it is a sellers market. That's all I was getting at.

I really appreciate nowhereman’s price check, and feel that it was in the best interest of the seller.

Also second what Crash said. I’m not selling things on the forum for what Ill sell it to someone I dont know. Even if I dont know you but its through NCKA I hope your down to chat for a minute if you pick something up from me because thats how we build community and continue to keep our community strong.

FWIW, I bought my two year old oasis for $1700, but I also love looking for deals.

Ichiro, good luck with the sale.

Aloha,

Isao
