Looking for some crappie fishing within an hour's drive of Santa Cruz. I've never put my kayak on a Santa Clara lake, but am wondering if Lexington, Anderson, or Calero are good options? Any tips on what to use?

Colero used to be a real good crappie lake.

Not so much anymore, crappie is a targeted fish there.  Plus, the guideline is not to eat fish from Calero (and surrounding reservoir) due to Mercury deposit.
