Morning folks.  Looking to start building some knowledge out for getting out on the water.  Fished freshwater all my life and started to get a little experience casting into the surf and crab snaring at the pacifica pier when I came out to california about a decade ago.  Lost all of my beginner gear to a minor fire recently, so slowly building back with an eye to get stuff that will last.

Excited to dig through the forums to learn about pro's/con's of fishing/fly-casting off different boats, working with crab pots, and diving.

Cheers!

welcome Zepol, I am a little south of you in the bay area and have not been out much although I have flyfished from kayaks on saltwater and freshwater for 15 years and got into amazing blitzes (stripers, bluefish and false albacore) on the east coast and have done great from kayaks on tropical species on the Caribbean. The long rod from the kayak has its pros and cons but it can be a great deal of fun. Once I hooked a 40 pd stingray on a tiny merking crab in Sanibel Island (Florida) I thought I had the snook of my life on the line but nop. :-)
