So now that i know more or less how to mount my transducer of my Fisheasy 245, i need to protect the rest from the saltwater...where do I put the dielectric gel? Any recommendations on where to buy a small, watertight Pelican case where I can put my batteries?
Thanks!

I bought mine online only to later find them at REI and Frye's.

Hope this helps.

You really only need to put the dialectic grease on the connectors where the head unit connects to the transducer and power cables.

My local Kragens has it.
Saltwater is the cure for everything that ails us,

I put my batteries in a small dry bag.  It's easier than trying to modify a hard case.

Yup, like a buck for a small packet.  Should be on a counter display with the anti-seize.

Or, you can try your local Caterpillar Tractor dealer.
Part number 151-1340.

When you say, put the dielectric gel on the connection, do you mean plug in the cable and then put the gel around the border where the two plugs meet? Sorry, i realize this probably isn't that complicated, but I don't want to fry my Eagle the first time out!

Just put some on the metal contacts to prevent corrosion and act as a lubricant. Corrosion-X spray is good also. After a saltwater outing I rinse off my FF with warm tap water and dry it ,then spray the contacts in the head and the mount on the kayak. I also do the metal battery connections. My FF is 4 years old with no corrosion issues.

okay, thanks! I bought the portable Fisheasy 245...the battery compartment is built into the top of the inside of the porta-mount. It looks as though it would be a fairly dry place...does anyone else have the Fisheasy 245 portable? If so, did you change the battery compartment or use it out of the box?

Corrosion X is dialectric?

Allen I don't know if it's dielectric, but all my connections are virtually pristine.

 Just checked, it is.
" Due to its extraordinary dielectric properties, CorrosionX should be applied to all battery terminals, terminal strips, ignition switches, electrical connectors, circuit breakers, fuse holders, light switches, light sockets, electrical plugs, blower motors and fans to protect them from corrosion, extend their life and keep them working reliably. Although CorrosionX is inherently nonflammable, the environmentally-friendly propellant used in our aerosol cans is flammable. Please use caution when applying to electrical equipment. Before applying, make sure there is no current running though the system and that electrical motors are disconnected before applying."

probably clear but "dialectric" means "does not get in the way of electrical signal".

so it's grease that you put on the contacts which still allows electricity to flow.

and where there is grease, water cannot go, so it grease on the connectors keeps water off them,
and where there is no water, there is no corrosion.

sorry if that was obvious.

I checked Kragen, Ace,OSH, Home Depot, Lumbermen's, West Marine and they don't have Corrosion X.  Where do you get it? Tackle store? Thanks
