Does SW swell (instead of usual NW) affect launch at BH?  Looks like waves will be ~15 second from SW from Fri - Sun.

I'm up for it!

From my WAVE HUNTIN experience, I will say any SOUTH SWELL will hit the "MORE SOUTHERNLY" exposed beaches harder that usual. After about HMB and south of it, begins the beach's that fall in that catagory. During a LONGER PERIOD SOUTH-SWELL the more you head towards Santa Cruz the BIGGER and HEAVIER and crowded(surfers) it will get.

I have family functions this Saturday and Sunday but Monday (Labor Day), if swell is ok, I'd like to hit Bean again.  I just have to remember to buy a whole bunch of swimming oodles to stuff inside my kayak haul to keep it afloat if gotten puncture.

Good Luck!

I'll be at a friends house at New Hogan Reservoir, but I've been wanting to do that!

It depends on the size/period.........if it's a >3ft south swell it is probably calm enough for south facing beachs(i.e) the Bean or any beach below/south of HalfMoonbay.
EXAMPLE~ I have gotten into thick-overhead-surf down at Pomponio Beach(just north of Bean) then drove up to LindaMar/Rockaway /Pacifica and there was NO TRACE of a SWELL or WAVE.
It's just the opposite if the SWELL was coming HARD from the NORTH, it would pound S.F. to Pacifica, but CALM in HMB and south of that.

Don't just jump in without WATCHING IT FOR AT LEAST 20 MIN.  that's usually enough time to see the LARGER SETS that will sneak around and up.
