Tried saving $$ by using DOUBLE Harbor Freight wheels. 8@ $7.99 ea).  But they just do not work well on sand.

So Wheeleez seems t make the best ones (16 inch.  But they are out of stock... and have not even begun production innChina.  They say the earliest s 2-3 months for these and the next smaller ones.. and kinda iffy at that.

So I was considering the competitors.. Like the ones Wilderness Statem uses (13 inch beach wheels) @$142/pair.   (But available)

Opinions, experiences?

Wait for the wheelez if you can. Check on REI website too.
There's one in SC on CL but the scupper cart if you prefer that kind.
I love my wheelez and I have a few I wont get rid of  :smt003
One of mine has a broken bushing/bearing that was just old and brittle from the previous owner. Same cart has a broken webbing probably wasnt well taken cared of. Other than that never had any other issues with my other ones.

Only Wheelez have bearings. None of the other balloon wheels that I looked at have bearings. That should be a consideration when building your own. Couple times a year REI have a 20% off one item for members. It's easier to swallow with a 20% discount. Many people like myself who went for different cart options would eventually end up with a pair of Wheelez, so you can actually save a few bucks if you just get the Wheelez right from the start.

Oh, I just read your other thread about converting an electric barrow. If that's the case, you don't want wheels with bearings. Good luck with that project.

I have the 24cm wheeleez no problem, only negative is I guess I'm a nail magnet so I've had to replace one after I f-ed up fixing it.  I use the Hobie cart through the scupper holes.
I also use the harbor freight wheels and a pvc spacer to fit them as a plan B.  I use and prefer the hard wheels when launching at HMB, SC, and OP.

the 24cm cart seems like it's on sale at Wheeleez, maybe it's a sign...

I think there is a cart in the for sale with Wheelez.   Buy that and swap the wheels.  I think the cart was cheaper than the wheels would be.
