Either handle to flip kayak over or rescue ladder.  If it is, you may want to make sure the rope wont slip out.

Good effort y’all!
This is a Mirage Drive anchor, to make the kayak safer when it flips and keep the sand away from the drive.

Also, after landing, I tip my kayak on the side to get the cart in, and this trick would save me the extra step of securing the drive under the bungee cords at the back.

I’ll keep using the leash, just in case (as shown in the photo in blue)

If that is bungee, I don't think it would work for a ladder.  So maybe a way to right the kayak...  But that looks sort of like the pin that comes in the space for the mirage drive when they ship.   I guess I have nothing  :smt044

Snazzy idea! I have found that sliding the fins under the seat does a good job holding them in too

Do the new Hobies no longer come with a spot to leash the drive near the Hobie Mast tube?  I leash mine there, and then slide it under the bungee cords or straps on the front hatch to hold it for launch and landing.

why not use the bungee with hook that comes with the Hobie specifically for that purpose? unless you don't have one....

That's a great idea. It will hold the drive much more securely than the hook MotionOfOcean pointed out. I think that hook is primarily to hold one pedal back when they are in the well so the fins stay against the hull, but I have yet to see someone and like that.

Did you use a 3/8 inch rod?

I use it all the time when going thru eel grass and shallows at Tomales Bay.
