So what are you going for now?  Planted trout at the local reservoirs?  So Cal for some semi-active halibut action?  Last year our halibut heated up early in the Bay though.  Just curious.  I'll be down in SB for a while so I'll try out their halibut action and maybe a run to SD for yellowtail.

I don’t have much time for fishing early in the year, but will fish for surf perch a few times, and make at least a couple of attempts for local steelhead (assuming river conditions and open dates align).
I don't like stuff that sucks.

Stripers were reliable mid-December before this last series of storms muddied everything up again. Hoping for some clearish water to give them another go.

I may try to target dabs off the Sonoma coast as well. I’ve caught exactly 1 there in the past. Snagged it with a swimbait. I figure if I target them with the right gear I may be able to actually catch a few.

Hey John, Although I was not targeting dabs I caught 3 that last trip out. Not very big.

a 8 hook sabiki, little squid strips like 1" and you should be set! I put a 6oz weight on the bottom and a 2oz on the top to keep the whole thing on the bottom
