Draft Conservation Plan - Public Meeting
December 20, 2021

On December 1, 2021 CDFW released an updated draft Conservation Plan (CP) for public review and comment. The CP is a critical component of CDFW’s application for an Incidental Take Permit under Section 10 of the federal Endangered Species Act and will address interactions with endangered humpback whales, blue whales, and leatherback sea turtles in the California commercial Dungeness crab fishery. View more information about the updated draft.

CDFW will hold a virtual public meeting regarding the updated draft Conservation Plan from 10:00 am to 12:30 pm on Friday January 7, 2022. Additional information on how to join is posted on CDFW’s Whale Safe Fisheries webpage. During the meeting, CDFW will provide a brief overview of the Conservation Plan, then spend the remainder of the meeting addressing questions from the public. CDFW requests that participants complete a thorough review of the draft CP prior to joining the meeting, and come prepared with specific questions for CDFW staff.

Written comments are requested and should be submitted to [email protected] by 5:00 pm on Monday January 17, 2022.
