Hey guys,

I want to update you on my thoughts for the 2022 ARW tournament and where I stand right now. I think many of the Tournament directors are in a tricky situation with the on going COVID-19 situation -- myself Included.

As the ARW tournament is only a "Day" event, I feel comfortable moving forward, and will be following all State and County COVID-19 health regulations; however, that could change if the situation changes drastically, which I'm hoping it will not. However, your thoughts are important to any decisions that I will make so please let me know by quickly taking the poll on top.

I am looking to hold the event at the end of May or Early June as I normally do. Once we get all the permits and paperwork from the county I will make an official announcement about the event. There will be health and safety protocols put in place (Yet to be determined), but my top priority is to keep everyone safe-- Out on the water, and on land.

I know everyone has been locked up for over 2 years, and we all need to get back together with a good event. There have been several successful events held since COVID and I'm looking to learn from the directors. I look forward to seeing everyone in the summer again, but the hard work for the organizers is just beginning. Stay tuned for updates and take the poll.

Best,
Keith Nguyen (TLA)

Totally think that we should continue to do Tournaments, especially day trip ones.  I'm in for sure, have missed the ARW and was hoping these would continue.  Thanks Keith!  :smt006

Really glad to see this. So long as it's done intelligently, go for it. The toothpaste is out of the tube at this point with covid moving from pandemic to endemic. It feels like it's time to start learning to live with this and  figuring out how to normalize our lives as much as possible. Very much looking forward to this event.

my new name should be Ostridge. Got my head in the sand. Going fishing and letting go of the other stuff I can't control anyway!

I'm not one to impose anything on any one; it's just not my style. However, i will try and take a common sense approach to boundaries, in order to keep every one relatively safe.  Thanks for the 2 cents.

There's been a few other tournaments during covid ... I think most recently the MBK Derby? I wonder if their protocols could be a model for the ARW tourney - especially for obtaining county permits, etc.

Yeah I will touch base with Adam from MBK and find out what i should integrate. He's a good friend and i'm sure he will give me some good tips. Additionally, matts (fishermans life) held a very good outside event that had at least 1k people with no issues. I feel comfortable having an outside events but a little caution can't hurt anyone. --TLA

Looking forward to signing up. I can’t imagine the work that goes into putting on a tournament, so I’ll follow whatever is called out. Small price IMO.
Usually out of the running for Husband of the Year by January 4th of each year...

Tell the chovy to change the title of the tournament to ARW Halibut Tournament featuring Moo Moo then vote yes!  Just reassure the public you’ll be attending the gaffing lesson class and all should be well.  Love ya’ man!  I’m sure you’re gonna need a bigger freezer… :smt005 :smt006
