While I don't necessarily agree with the idea, I think that level of conscientiousness is part of why I love this club.  I'm in.

I’m sorry to hear that we won’t have a GS this year, but I appreciate how you came to your decision.

There’s an invitational around the same time for vaxxed anglers only that I think I’ll be joining.
1st - 2013 Angler of the Year- All time high score
1st - 2016 Angler of the Year
1st - 2016 CCKF AOTY - All time high score

Haven't been on this board for awhile and then came across this thread🤦🏽‍♂️🤦🏽‍♂️...instantly reminded me why I haven't. The hypocrisy is unreal. I'll gladly pass and boat my way to Shelter Cove and help boost the local economy this summer.  :smt006

Thinking about Shelter Cove this year. Always enjoy spending a few days  fishing with friends. Watching the cost of gas go through the roof. Not sure about this year, some gas stations are close to 8.00 now. Could not even  guess what gas will cost as you get close to Shelter cove.

The tournament occurs in mid May, and registration happens starting in January, so it's too late this year.  If next year there's not a pandemic/new variant of covid threatening to overwhelm medical systems, particularly in rural areas, then I'll consider starting GS back up again.  I have my doubts about ever holding the event again though.

Tournaments are lame. There will always be a part of the crowd who are only there to try to win a tournament.

Make it an FnC and you only get people who want to FnC.

I started kayak fishing to get away from most of you...

Not a big tournament fan. Most events I participate in now is just  to hang out with friends , contribute money to a cause , help where I can and that's about it. Have been enjoying smaller gatherings at beautiful places like shelter where the focus isn't on fish counts. I really believe events can be held without fish counts to raise money for a cause. I spend at least a hundred bucks at every raffle as well as the event fee.

Good stuff, Alex.  That's what I have been wanting to go to.

Gyotaku and a focus on the community and the kids has always been part of GS, and moving on from the tournament framework has been a goal for a long time.

I have a goal of being ready to bring my best positive vibe for GS in 2023 - with a focus on bringing like minded people together for good times in a place we love.

Peace out, NCKA.   :smt001

I totally agree with Alex.  It's all about the people!  I have never fished competitively but haven't missed many NCKA events.  A non-tournament event works great for me.  The Loose Screws have always been about the social aspect.

For me: ,Its about the brotherhood. People coming together with the thin yet strong common thread of kayakfishing the mighty mother ocean. Its about people of all walks of life coming together sharing, caring and, celebrating all while making the world a little better place.
