Dude i just got mine from West Marine in Sausalito last week.  You're free to use them if you need.

They said they may be getting more in this week.

I just welded mine up.  Deciding if I want to rubber wrap or powdercoat them... some say a rusty pot fishes better which is an argument for rubber. powder would look nice though

How about plastidip? The spray might work well for this application and be cheaper than taking to a powder coater and probably cheaper than rubber wrap.

I have thought about welding up my own, but it's hard to justify time and materials when I used to get the promar models for $35 each with the small harness... I am betting with rebar, netting, and some cord, it's near that price each plus time. I still have 4 of them which is perfect for my kayak, but I would like more for when on the boat.

These cost me a grand total of 18 bucks with the net included so not really much of an investment (plus I don't think I've seen an ambush hoop for $35 ever! these are the XL so 79.99 before the recent price hike).  I'm afraid plastidip will be far too fragile- barely lasts on a car wheel let alone underwater. Perhaps vinyl dipping would be best, but surely not easy to DIY..

I have access to a powder coating oven big enough to put a car in.   The rubber wrapping is free, otherwise I'd probably look into vinyl dip

Did you consider the bottom ring when you made yours?  The promars have 3 rings.  Seems like its purpose is to drop the net lower on the retrieve but may not make a difference… :smt006

Just bought 2 32” from Dicks near my place. They honored price match I found online which is $69.00 not bad for $109 advertised price. Thank you everyone for the offers!

Dude... LEGIT! Did you buy the net as a generic fishing net, or was it intended as a replacement for a conical hoop? Really nice work. If you have access to powder coating equipment I'd ask what's stopping ya?!

There's some talk about "hot" pots worth reading into. Similar to downriggers with positive ion control so I may do a few of each.  The net is just a generic replacement

Thanks Christian  :smt006

no problem! These traps going to $120+ overnight made me sick lol- couldn't invest like that already owning 7 traditional traps that are now worth nothing..

I built a ring roller last night (needs a handle still) and am going to see how it does bending the rebar hoops.. the first ones I did by hand lol

Just curious, how do you plan on addressing the "hot pot" issue? Zinc? Soda can? Or not worry about it?  Btw, I agree with others, looks nice!
