Good luck and post a report.

I was all packed and ready to roll, but I prefer weekdays to avoid the crowd. I'll be working on my Hobie Adventure-to-AI conversion project today...

Hit the water around 7:30 paddled out to the lighthouse. Hook a bunch of rockfish but nothing worth taking. There is a lot of bait near the Lighthouse in close.

Went to lighthouse too. Caught a decent size olive and a bigger vermilion.

I fished the lighthouse reef in  60’- 70’ and couldn’t get a bite. Well I got 1 bite on a mackerel wedged in a FBR . Picked up more mackerel outside the harbor on the way back in. Beautiful weather.

I got out early and had zero to show for my squid soaking for most of the morning, but it was really nice out. Met JoeDubC on the water. Started to get a few tiny blue rockfish but nothing else. Caught a rock.

Finally got a decent bite on a whole squid/trap rig, and it was a keeper ling that was about 24 inches. After several unproductive hours and lots of pedaling, it was a beautiful sight. Got a couple of black and yellows after that in front of the lighthouse on the few whole squid I had left. Also took home a blue that I thought had flopped out of the boat, but I found it under my chair when I was packing up.

The weather was great, but this was one of my toughest fishing days all year. It was a continuous search for bites. It was good to see some other kayaks giving it a go, and it seemed slow all around.

Good to meet you out there. That was the slowest fishing I've had fishing for rockfish. Catching 3 macks at a time on a sabiki is pretty fun though. I caught a rock once too, kept waiting for the head shakes but knew after awhile I had a piece of the bottom.
