Anyone willing to show a rookie how to fish linda mar on tuesday afternoon/evening? Unusual day I know, my schedule changes every week, other than the fact I work every weekend. To make it even more unusual, I work nights so mornings are out.   Anyone still available?  Been out twice so far with not even a bite..... :smt009

Thanks KD, but I think I will be out there regardless.    :smt001

As for the weather messing up my fishing......you may be right!

LM is not a place to go out regardless. You can get seriously messed up there and also injury people as that is a fairly popular surf spot. You should not launch alone, especially if it is your first time there.

Bill, I appreciate the input.  Definitely not my first time in the surf with the kayak though, and I am very aware of the inherent risks. Also don't plan on launching or landing anywhere near groups of people/fishermen. I know how much it annoyed me when I surfed/fished and someone came through my lines.  Thanks for the words of advice.

Just a question for those who have fished Linda Mar...  Do you guys ever paddle around to Shelter Cove?

Yes, ChuckE lost a big Halibut there a few years back. There's some sandy area there - about 35 to 40 FOW. If you have live bait, trooch that area. Watch out for boilers too, there's a couple that show up when the tide's low enough.

I also lost a couple mystery fish in that area. I was right next to jdyak when I got slamed really had by a fish. It took a lot of line out before it broke loose. Never knew what it was  :smt011

Good luck and paddle safe. Try to keep out of the area behind (the South side) Pedro Point, there is a seal colony there....I'm sure the Land Lord collects rent there...especially at this time of year. I've seen headless sea lions wash up by the South rocks and Linda Mar beach on a few occasions.

That does not mean that the GW's are not there. There have been a few sightings in the past - that goes for Rockaway Beach as well. With all the bait and sea lions roaming inside that cove, I'm pretty sure the land Lord makes his rounds in that area. It's just fortunate that no human has been attacked....yet.

When was this? Recently? How big was it? I've heard of a few local Pier rats talk about a GW seen around the pier.

On friday, 12 march 1993, Don Berry a diver was attacked at linda mar.

bit his swimfin, pushed him forward, he jabbed the shark with his speargun, it left.

Best,
