Definitely adding to my bucket list. Just have to condition my legs...first time out today and they were burning just going a mile.

Wow, sounds amazing! Fish pics?

I only have pics of the bonito and kelp bass but still nothing really note worthy

that's flat out inspiring...went by boat before and couldnt forget the dolphins. Did you paddle back on the return trip?

Yeah we paddled back. The weather wasnt as great on the way back but it was still very doable. Saw 2 large great white fins about 6 miles off catalina. Also found a happy birthday balloon floating along in the ocean and it happened to be my dads birthday

Nice report, dreamed of doing that when I lived in SoCal, nice report.
Did you have a support vessel with you?

No support vessel, just the standard safety gear

Where did you store all of your equipment. Did you camp out?

We stared all our gear in the hull, we both had old school tarpon 160's so there was lots of storage. We brought full camping and cooking gear but ended up eating out for every meal and barging random spots on seeping pads in sleeping bags for the night

That’s cool that you paddled all the way out there, with all that paddling I don’t think I would have enough energy to do any fishing. Some of the fresh n salty guys do mothership trips out there. Looks like a lot of fun.

Yeah we barely got to fish due to the recovery time of the shoulders. If i do it again i would plan on being there for at least 7 days to have time to recover

That's serious distance, wow!   But I thought Catalina was "26 miles across the sea ...".    4 miles shorter in a dry water year?

Yeah avalon is 26 miles but we went to 2 harbors from cabrillo beach, only 22 miles. The ferry to avalon from 2 harbors is only $15 and 30 minutes so we did that
