Watching some random YouTube guy that's  living on a catamaran and spearfishes for food. He showed that warm oilve oil in his ears before diving keeps them dry and lubricanted and prevents ear infections. Having suffered from them for many years I'm thinking it's worth a try. Anyone do this for diving?

Some rescue divers I used to work with in the ER used isopropyl and vinegar diluted with distilled water from a little dropper after a dive.

Edit: It's my understanding that using oil in the ears makes it more prone to infection

Many fishermen spend their lives chasing fish, only to realize that it was themselves that they were chasing.

The "Salty" in my handle refers to my attitude, not the waters I fish

+1 on white vinegar and Iso. alcohol for ears - I just use them 50-50, immediately after kayaking, windsurfing, SUPing, surfing, or  swimming , and again after showering after a go-out.  Haven't had an ear infection since starting this decades ago, and I've been in some iffy water.  I re-use a dropper bottle (eye drops, pool testing chemicals, whatever).
More than you want to know: the same solution can tame jock rash, though it stings for a few seconds.

Interesting... interesting... good to know for a simple remedy.

What about a burning sensation during urination?  Asking for a friend...  :smt005  jk

vinegar and isopropyl alcohol 1:1 is what swimmers use to prevent swimmer's ear (infection).   It creates an environment inhospitable for bacteria.   This is preventative and will sting if used to treat an existing infection.
