On the upside the woods around you aren’t burning right now, sure you thought of that

My brother’s town is about to go up in flames in the Dixie fire

I'm thinking we were lucky the downed line didn't start a fire...
Are you pondering what I’m pondering?

Few in the bay and sac, one in Fresno .

That's the previous gen.  The 2013 ran from '12-'14.  For reference, the part number for the 2013's tailgate is 68100-T0J-A80ZZ.  Fitment cross reference confirms this part was only common on the 2012-2014 vintage CR-Vs.

I got a quote from a local body shop today, and he said if he used all new parts, it would be $5200, and about half that if he can find used parts. He seemed confident that he could find a used tailgate.

I removed the damaged tailgate, and it would be easy to install a new one. So, if I can find one, at a reasonable price, I'll get it, and I don't even care if it's the right color...

Do a visual inspection on anything with a circuit board. Look for burnt wires.
Had a similar situation happen.
Fried my hot tub, pellet stove, fridge, microwave, couple of tv's,  (one caught fire but I got to it in time to prevent any damage to the house), melted the surge protector for the computer. All my baseboard heaters were fried.
Years later I found fried wires on the water heater and had to replace the circuit board after it started acting wacky.
The damage might not be immediately apparent and things still functioning.....for now.
Better safe than sorry.

Here's a closeup of the circuit board on the tankless water heater, and a power strip. These are the only obvious things I've found so far.

I see that there is a tool known as a "megger" that makes it possible to test the insulation on wires. I plan to get such a tool and test the wiring in the house...

I have a thermal image device if you think it would help.  Can see if wires are heating up due to resistance or find over tightened breaker connections.
