Fished for the first time on the kayak after month and a half out the game. My mirage drive spine broke, rudder wasn’t deploying and hatch had a pin falling out and all those issues took a while to fix. Good thing my 20 outback was under warranty. Fished with Scotty and the fishing started out slow. We got a couple rocks but really had to grind out there for the lings. The drift was super strong, it was hard to keep your bait on the bottom. The wind was also stronger than I expected but was manageable. Picked up my ling limit towards the end of the day on red big hammer swim baits. Also managed to score 6 rocks and 1 sand dab. Scotty saw a salmon jump out there I didn’t see any but might be worth a try.

What a wonderful mixed bag.  What is the flat fish?  It doesn't have the striped fins I remember on flounder but I haven't caught one in almost 50 years.
thank you

Hell yeah, nice mix.  He mentions sand dab, but I was thinking the flattie might be a Pacific Sand Sole (Psettichthys melanostictus)?  Dabs are usually smaller and left-eyed, whereas this one is right-eyed.

Thank you I think you are right it was a pacific sand sole. It was too large to be a sand dab.

I forgot my wet suit at home and got burned pretty badly. Using the fish skin to heal the burns while enjoying the lings.

Nicely done slogging it out for some lings and a flattie.  Drift was hella fast up north too.  That's a new one on me using ling skin for burns.  But I would have tried it this past weekend when I burned my face trolling into the sun for too long and had no aloe around.  Might end up looking like a tails from the crypt hooker though with it on my face  :smt005
