Sometimes life gives us pickles on the water and we sacrifice leader line and our precious jigs to the ocean gods.I generally carry extra 20-25# fluoro. And can never seem to find swivels and snaps.

Theres countless plethoras of knots in the world. But these are the ones I use regularly. And can tie quickly.

Hopefully this helps.

The albright special looks easier than the Alberto knot I usually tie.  Thanks, i'll try it and the other one out, love learning new knots.

In a pinch on the water, if I have to join two lines together, I usually just do a double surgeons knot.  It's gotten me out of some jams, but I later remove it as it can be a pita going through guides.  But easy to cut out a rats nest and go on with your day.

I love the SD knot, but on the water I am slowly converting back to Uni on Everything.

I just give it a couple more wraps on the braid side for a double uni to mono/flouro (if I dont have time to tie an FG).

I go with the uni/double uni . My fat fingers and old eyes require simple strong knots and the uni works well for me.

For braid to mono, I think the SC knot may be the best option if you want some thing that is compact, easy to tie, and strong. I’m still figuring out the best way to finish it. Probably rizutto.

Really tying rigs on the water for me = sea sickness unless they are quick.  I pre-tie everything I can, never wanting to rig it on the water.  I love the uni-uni and use it often, but don't think I'd try on the water.  The simple albright looks fairly promising though.

This! I only tie palomar knots on the water…
Are you pondering what I’m pondering?

Yeah, I'll do a palomar if I loose my rig and need a snapswivel or direct tie on a jig.  Double surgeons knot as a loop in a leader that i'm shortening.  And sometimes like I said to get rid of a tangled line or to quickly join a quick bit of mono to the end of my braid, the double surgeons knot works well enough for me in a pinch.

But, I love tying knots, and spent all week nursing my ankle tying knots.  :smt044  I could also probably do a perfection loop pretty quickly now that i've practiced it a bunch.   But, pre-tied all my rigs for like the next three outtings already  :smt005

Agreed. Time on the water is precious, so if things are going according to plan I don’t tie any knots and just use snaps to connect my pre-tied leaders.

The no knot snells are quick and easy to tie on the water for salmon, halibut, etc. But like others have said it's usually best to have everything tied beforehand.

Thanks for the mention of the SC knot Krishna -- I hadn't seen that one. I usually do the FG for braid to leader. I'll give it a try.

Cheers,
Brad

FG, Uni, Palomar, No Knot Snell for top hook of salmon leader (easier to keep just under 5'' eye to bend), Figure 8 Knot for loops.

That is a pretty great knot! I've been using traditional snells on my 2 hook rigs and they are kind of a pain. I'll try this!
My go-to's are palomar and uni or uni/uni, figure eight loops, and dropper loop if needed.
