Hi Guys
After consecutive days of slayage my wetsuit stinks. It lives downstairs, which happens to be wifey's workspace and the aroma isn't very appetizing. Any tips or tricks you have for cleaning it? I tried the mild dish soap/5-gallon bucket method, but was looking for something a little more instensive.
Anyone tried the gentle cycle?

Oh man, I remember what that used to smell like during the multiday camping trips lol.  What worked best for me is McNett Mirazyme + wetsuit shampoo mixed in a bucket, let it soak for a bit then rinse it out.  That mirazyme odor eliminator stuff really works.

I just chuck all my kayaking duds into the front-loading (no agitator) washing machine with regular liquid washing soap and also some fabric freshener from the dollar store - on gentle or perm press light cycle, cold water.  Sometimes I can still detect the faint smell of fish even after that.   The machine wash doesn't seem to affect the neoprene  or fleece stuff, maybe the old Goretex splash jacket a little, but it 's so old I'll take the chance.   Really smelly pits get a rubbing of baking soda slurry.  Zip up all zippers so they don't saw through everything they touch.  Probably done it nearly a hundred times

I use Gear Aid, Revivex, Wetsuit & Drysuit Shampoo which you can purchase from Amzon.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B077T32WDH/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I placed my wife's and my wetsuit (inside out) in a bathtub and add some wetsuit shampoo and water.  I let them soak for an hour and I jump in to stomp on the wetsuits for several minutes.  Replace with fresh water and stomp some more and rinse and hand dry in the bathroom.

Kinda like making wine haha. I'll try the gentle cycle and if that doesn't work I'll spring for some wetsuit shampoo.

Thanks dudes

Dog shampoo.  Seriously, it kills smells and is easy on the skin.

1/4 cup of white vinegar in the tub with enough water to cover the wet suit and fill booties.  Agitate, turn inside out, agitate some more.  Let soak for 30 minutes, then roll/press against the side of the tub to squeeze excess water out and then hang to dry.  No rinse.  There's not enough vinegar to leave a vinegar scent, but there's enough to cut the fish odors.  If my wetsuit booties still stink, then I fill them up with water and a 1/4 cup of vinegar each and give them 30 more minutes before rinsing and hanging to dry.

If some of you haven't tried the mirazyme stuff, should really give it a try.  Whatever is the science behind it, it works.   It seems like everyone has a method that seems to work for them but if you want something to use once in a while that will really get that funky smell out, this stuff will do it.

and maybe not good for the longevity of the neoprene, depending on concentration level?

One table spoon of baking powder (not liquidized form) into the wet boots, slosh the powder around.  Wait one hour (or four or 10), then rinse with water.  I dont know if thats the right thing to do or not, but it took care of the smell on wet boots.  The boots still look pretty good (and the fact I dont wear them too much anymore probably helps).

tossed mine into the front loader yesterday, on the most delicate cycle, worked great.  I'll probably still just rinse most of the time, but an occasional washing in the machine will be nice.  Thanks for the tip.
