Hey everyone, going to try trolling for Salmon tomorrow but not sure what rod is best. Should I bring my 9' M action Okuma SST Steelhead with spinning reel or 7' M action Tiger stick with conventional reel? I'll be using a diver too if that makes a difference

Divers create a ton of drag, i'm not really a fan of them on a yak, although with a Hobie and a rudder it's doable.  Have you considered a 3-way or banana weight instead?

I'll try using some lead too but I feel like I never know how deep my line is unless I'm hitting bottom or happen to see it on the FF. I got a fancy Davis Instruments Fish Seeker diver that claims to dive pretty accurately so figured I would give it a try

I vote for the Tiger stick.
