Took my three kids to the game last night... Good game.  Giants won.  Leaving the game, we're crossing 3rd and King and right in front of my kids, a red sedan hits and runs completely over a woman, then hauls ass away leaving her laying in the middle of the street moaning and totally messed up.  Horrific thing to witness and my kids may need some therapy or something.  We were all shaken by this, and we can find anything on the news or internet about the condition of the victim or if they caught the douchebag driver.  My kids never want to go back to the city... Such a shame.    :smt011 :smt013

I have been seeing a lot more drunk drivers in the last few years. This year is the worst yet. Overall crime is getting bad. I don't see things getting better anytime soon. This isn't you father's California!

That's terrible, both for the poor woman who was hit and for your family who had to witness it. So sorry for your kids especially. For a range of reasons, SF just isn't the destination that it once was and it seems like people are starting to shy away from the city. Traffic, crime, homeless/mental health issues, cost, filth. I was there in April for a game and it was the first time that I ever legitimately felt unsafe in the city. Just such a shame.

That's beyond horrible.

We've been avoiding ess eff for the past couple of years, and have no plans to go back any time soon, if ever.

I'm curious if you reported it to the police as witnesses to help the case in anyway.

Was on a bus full of youths/kids and a motorcycle zoomed by.. shortly up the road, the motorcycle was down on the opposite side of the road. Rider, passenger, and dog staring blankly and gone. Tragedy. Stay safe, stay strong, be well.  :triplets:

I did not report it because there were police everywhere.  This happened in front of 200+ people as the game was letting out.  My attention was on my kids making sure they were ok.

A little sadder that a woman may have suffered major injuries.

And for what it's worth, SF is more than just SOMA and Union Square. If the folks commenting here (not trying to pick on you bbt95762) live far away and get their impressions of SF from the news or visits to one or two (very busy, very problematic) areas, you're not getting the whole picture. I've lived in the Mission for nine years, and if anything it's safer and quieter now. KRON4 doesn't boost ratings by reporting "SF Crime Sucks Like It Does In Most Cities But Is Largely Unchanged", though that's what the data suggests. (https://sfgov.org/scorecards/public-safety/violent-crime-rate-and-property-crime-rate)

I'm not one to argue policy or politics on a fishing message board, but I worry that people believe all the SF scare stories from the news, especially when one bad incident seems to confirm the stories.

Yeah, wasn't my point in posting, not too sure the point actually.  Just a first for me and was hoping someone else maybe knew something more about the incident.  Really worried about the lady and sad my kids had to see that after a fun night out.

It sucks that you and your kids had to witness that! I witnessed a double fatality 2 years ago. The car in front of me for some reason lost control of their car and drove head on in to a semi truck at 55 mph killing both of the people in the car and the semi driver just had some cuts from glass. I couldn’t drive on that road for a year and I’m still hyper aware when driving on 2 lane roads. It’s going to take some time for you and your kids to heal after what you guys witnessed. Give it a some time and then make it a point to go back there for a game. It will help with their healing! Hopefully the lady will recover and the police catch the idiot!
