Anyone fishing this Saturday? I’d be down for salmon and or rockfish. Would be able to fish Doran beach or Further north possibly TC or OC if rockfish are the main plan. Haven’t looked a the weather report yet.

I might try Monterey for the first time, or Santa Cruz again. The wind and swell look a little better down there.

Yeah I’m in the north bay so I’m limited to Marin Sonoma coast for the day. What swell prediction did you see for Doran/ Sonoma?

For Sonoma Coast, I'm seeing 8.4'-9.4'NW swell @ 8 sec on willyweather....which to me is a no-go.  Doran is looking pretty similar, but your risk tolerence / comfort level may vary  :smt002

Yeah definitely a bit past my comfort level. Probably just stick to the bay for some halibut. Still learning how to read all the various weather forecast sites. Some are relatively accurate but with limited locations others are way off with more options.

I'll be out in SC. Probably going north, though Soquel pt has a boatload of kelp right now and the nearshore area has my attention. Give a shout if you head this way.

So I think I'm heading to Santa Cruz out of the harbor and head West to the point and maybe the 1 mile. Probably launch 7:30/8:00.

If you go out of the harbor and head north, you'll end up at Aldos.

No halibut for me trolling a lure. After couple hours switched to rockfish and picked up a few smallish fish at 1 mile buoy. Wind picked up and I trolled anchovies over towards lighthouse for 1 croaker. Picked up a gopher around there but whitecaps were unfriendly and no one was there so I headed in. Does anyone else get the old Hawaii Five-0 music in their head when they’re riding following waves in?

There were an army of hali hunters out today. Pretty slow. I managed one. Were you the one with the Qi slaps on your hobie?
