Today I finally took the plunge on my Lexa 300H LC. It’s my salmon reel, and I’m servicing it in preparation for the season.

Problem is I can’t detach the two plates to get the spool out. I watched a really good YouTube video on this, but it’s the HD model, which is different.

There’s a tiny (like 3/64”) snap ring below the black cog wheel (see image) that I suspect needs to be removed in order to take the spool out, but I’m not sure. Does anyone know?

You may have luck asking on alantani.com. Although Isn’t that reel a bit small for salmon? I’d be concerned about a big hot running salmon spooling me without enough line capacity on that reel

So to take the spool out all you need to do is loosen the cast control dial screw on the other side plate and then it’s a 1/4 twist of the side plate and the plate just pulls away. It’s usually the first thing I do when taking a reel apart. In your video he does it around minute 23.

Thanks. My model doesn’t have this know.

Hey Lior it was great meeting you and fishing with you the other day. While I can’t necessarily directly answer your question, this parts diagram seems like it could because it looks like all the parts are listed in order of dismantling. Hope this helps.

If that link isn’t your reel, you should be able to find yours on this page.

It’s called fishing, not catching. Coming back alive means you had a great day. Coming back with fish is a great bonus on top of a great day.

Thanks! Same here. I was able to find the parts diagram in my gear box. I’m just concerned that if I remove that tiny, almost inaccessible snap ring, it will either deform or I won’t be able to put it back in place.

Here’s the other side of my reel. It has no tensioning knob. Just a clicker. I think my reel is an older model. Plenty of line for Salmon BTW. In fact, I don’t even fill up the spool.

I didn’t see that it was a LC reel. There should be a long screw coming from the other side that you can loosen, then the same 1/4 turn to take it off. I’ll try to get a picture from my LC reel when I’m home later to show you.

Awesome!
I’m going to try now.

BTW, something strange that happened recently (before I serviced the reel) is that the thumb bar sometimes doesn’t engage when I turn the handle, regardless of drag. The reel is one+ year old, and it’s the first time I’m servicing it. Servicing the reel didn’t fix it unfortunately.
This problem happens sometimes. I can’t replicate it. It’s random.

Any thoughts?
