Will someone post me an amazon link to a recommended treble hook they use for a stinger rig when halibut fishing. I am not a treble fan.. but have always had trouble getting hooked up on halibut. The have such a subtle bite and I am tired of losing opportunities. Please and Thank you

if I use a stinger I use a single hook...rarely use a stinger especially with live bait... :smt006

The ER doctor remarked how this hook was so much harder to cut than the usual hooks he sees as he was trying to remove it from my hand.  ;)

That is the most compelling review of a hook I've seen in a decade. I am buying several hundred (and some tourniquets).

I’m with Eddie, I’m not a fan of trebles. I prefer owner ssw cutting point hooks FWIW. On treble lures I use owners as well.

I’d say go small like #6 or even #8, 1/2-3/4” total width. Smaller hooks fit inside most mouths and easier to hide. Also consider that trebles will catch more: hands, clothes, nets...

depends on application and bait size. trolling 1/0,2/0,3/0 depending on bait. live bait 2-4 light wire depending on bait. mustad/owner pref but it really doesnt matter. my line will get sawed off before the hook fails

Trebles are nothing but trouble...

I rarely fish bait, but when trolling (modified bounce-ball rig, usually with dodger and hootchie), I use a pair of Gamakatsu octopus hooks. Size 2/0 is probably ideal (in the sense of fewer missed strikes), but I find it hard to tie snell knots with 30# mono on those, so I often use 3/0 instead.

After a few times getting the trebles hopelessly stuck in my net I have switched just about everything to singles. I think there is even a Star Trek episode about them. I think it’s called: The Trouble With Trebles

Honestly can anyone confirm that the stinger was the main contact point.  It's always in the face or the body but never in the bite zone, it's kinda like an insurance of chaos... :smt006

All the scratched back halves or front halves of bait that come back up missing a tail after the tug seem to suggest that a stinger may have resulted in a sporting chance at more than the need to change your bait.

Ambush predators attack from behind or underneath, rarely head-on.

I will concede that stingers will mess up livies.

I usually troll for halibut with crippled anchovy or bounce a trap rig with a stinger. 1/0 Owner (or smaller) snelled 20# Maxima Ultrgreen

Most if not all my 10 keeper halibut was caught by the stinger, never the forward hook.
