Does the daggerboard make that much of a difference in terms of stability? also speed. Does it slow you down and by how much? Looking for advice from someone who has it. My 16 is a bit on the wobbly side but I am coming from a 32" wide kayak and need to spend more time on it. Just looking at ways to stabilize. I dont want the blow up AMAs. Thanks

It does, I strongly recommend it.  My time on my Revo 16 is a lot more enjoyable with the daggerboard.  Your alternative is to get used to the way Revo 16 plain stability.   The 16 is pretty stable beyond what you are used to, despite the wobbly feeling.  But I never get accustomed to it, so the daggerboard is my 'safety' peg.

Go get one.  You can get the Amas, but the daggerboard is more than enough imho.

I piloted a Revo 16 (then known as Adventure) for a few years before getting my AI, and I sailed the Revo regularly. I often used the daggerboard (both with and without the sail), never used any amas.

Speed-wise, you won't notice any difference, as the added drag is minimal. A shark shield would cause more drag. As for stability, I'd say it's not a huge difference-maker, but it does tend to dampen any side-to-side rocking, so you have a bit more time to react. I've got a spare daggerboard, in case you want to borrow it to give it a try before buying one.

More time in the saddle and your brain will adapt to the 16's degree of stability. The 16 is plenty stable.

After one year, I sold my 2020 Outback, and got a 2019 Revo, no daggerboard. Did lots of fishing, trolling, crabbing, etc. on it in various conditions.
It’s definitely stable, and I don’t feel a need for more. The Revo is tippy compared to the Outback, but tippy doesn’t mean unstable or bad; it means it conforms to curves in the water’s surface. The Outback is wider and less tippy. There are some good YT videos that explain how chine and hull design affect the behavior of a boat.

A lot of good advice here.  As I mentioned (and others here), the 16 is very stable and you can 'push' it beyond your comfort zone.  It is definitely feels tippy compared to Outback.  Before the 16, I came from a bunch of very stable kayak, so I know exactly what you meant.  I was on an Epic kayak once and man, I have zero confidence on that yak, I was 'shaking' just from staying still on a calm water because I am not used to the feeling.

One of the feeling I didn't like about the 16 is that it feels very tippy when the waves hits from back to front.  That makes a very brown-pants feeling sometimes, but you can simply raise the rudder and steer with paddle and that tippy feeling goes away.

So, there are definitely adjustments you can do and the best one, as others stated,  is to get to know the hull and push it as far as you can.  For me, the answer is a daggerboard.  Done.
BTW, great video pointer li-orca!

I think it is just time on the water. I went out yesterday is some serious wind and the kayak performed wonders. It is tippy here and there but I think over time once I get familiar with what I can get away with it will be fine. The daggerboard does sound like a good option and I probably will get one but overall I am in Love with the Revo 16. Wonderful boat

Had never thought about using a daggerboard without the sail.  And I only recently started using it with the sail  :smt044  But I tried my AI without the ama's and could not get used to the tippyness.  Maybe better now that I've lost some weight, maybe I'll try it out this weekend with the daggerboard.
