I known it is supposed to get a bit windy after 11AM and that there is no fish in SC but I decided to give it a try and get my water therapy (first time since last year season ended...)

I will be launching out of Dock A early (depends when I wake up) to come back before the wind picks up....

I will be on Ch69.

If you don't see a report it will be because I didn't catch anything ;-)

A bunch of squid boats were near the SC wharf this afternoon. Must be tons of bait around...

Good luck all, and I wish I could join you as SC owes me some fish, and it looks so fishy out there!

So launched around 6:30 headed toward the mile buoy, passed it and then went East and North toward the yellow buoy. 2 croakers, 3 small RF safely released but nothing else.... 5.4 miles later I was back at the harbor and could barely feel my back

I did mark baits East of the mile buoy and not far from the yellow buoy. Tried to troll around them but no luck. Maybe next time I will try ARW or HMB :-)

Saw a few kayaks out there and talked to one on the parking lot who caught 2 lings and 2 cabs by the lighthouse.

Sorry to hear that the fish were not more cooperative.

I'm aiming for Monday morning. Hopefully, the fish will wake up by then.

I also got out of SC yesterday (first time fishing SC waters for me).  We were on the water around 7:30 and hit the mile buoy area first.  Tons of anchovies in the water being balled up, but not a sign of anything else.  We headed over to the westside reefs and were able to produce a few lings and cabbies in the area.  I pulled a super rookie move and lost a nice sized lingcod after landing.  I couldn't tell if it was a keeper while it was in the water, so instead of grabbing my net, I grabbed my lip gripper.  Pulled it out of the water and immediately realized it was definitely a keeper -- probably in the 28" range.  Brought it in the boat, removed the hook and stupidly grabbed my measuring board instead of my game clip.  Well... as you can imagine, it wanted nothing to do with that and started flailing and popped off the lip gripper and headed back home.  I hope that's the only time I make that rookie mistake.  Later, I landed a 18.75" cabbie for dinner, so at least it wasn't all bad.

All told, fishing was super slow.  5 fish landed among 4 kayaks in our group in 7 hours with all of the action in the last 3 hours.  However, the forecasted wind never showed up and it was a gorgeous day on the water with great people.

Thanks for the report. I believe I saw you guys by the mile buoy and heard on the radio you were heading West :-) glad you were able to bring dinner home.
