Kayak Rack

Added a new member to the fleet! A hobie passport 12’! Can’t wait to get her on the water. Trying to make a rack for my two kayaks to sit in... Found this one online, anyone have any experience with it? https://www.wildernesssystems.com/us/experience/team-blog/1/post/build-simple-kayak-rack-pvc

No experience with that rack specifically, but I've made a few bike racks from pvc. Easy to work with; I just cut the pieces with my miter saw. 

I also have a need for some sort of rack for kayaks, so I've been searching the web recently for ideas. I'd like to make something from wood, seems a fair bit cheaper than pvc, and I have a decent pile of leftover pieces of 2x4s from other projects. Once built, I won't really need to move it, so no real need for it to be lightweight.

One thing to keep in mind with that rack, you need to have full access from the end to remove the kayaks, which for my storage area would make it difficult to position and still be usable, especially for the bottom boat.

Nice .If you plan on storing the kayak(s) on the hulls you may want to add some padding as not to get oil-canned from sitting to long, otherwise storing on the gunwales would be better

That's why you don't store a kayak right side up.  Geez...

I built a rack almost exactly like this, but more sturdy (extra PVC cross members). It's been an unexpected PITA - but you've already built one so you'll figure that out.

For sure. I’ll keep that in mind. Definitely better idea to store on gunwales.
