I am planning on going out tomorrow for a few hours if it’s not too windy. The folks fishing live bait from shore on the rockwall have been catching some good ones.

I Caught these two around 10am with live bait in 20ft. It was cold but not too windy. And.. my mirage drive broke miles out on the outgo!  Thankful I got a Revo13  :smt002 If anyone ever ends up in that situation it helps to take the backside of the wall in where the Matson and ferry ships dock.

I don’t know man. I try to keep it clean and lubed. I got the old v1 drive with the tightening screw for the drive mast, and it’s the 3rd one I’ve broke. I go out very often and really push it too hard on the kayak probably. Then again I guess it may hit the bottom from time to time... whoops!

Lol. I would love to but 5 kids and a mortgage says otherwise. New kayaks are like pipeline dreams for me.

Yay for old technology. As the oldest hobie in the fleet, also pedaling a V1, keep it greased and keep representin' oldschool! Thanks for sharing those nice fish!

I catch my own there with a sabiki when I have the time but J&P’s in SF is opening tomorrow I think so you can buy it from there as well.

How did you transport the live bait to Alameda and keep it viable?  I'm curious because I'm 0-4 out there and getting a bit discouraged.  Figured I'd try live bait.

I live in Alameda so I don’t have to transport the bait. 2 bait buckets. One is a 30 gallon live well that I keep in my truck. As long as I don’t overload it with too much bait which will keep the water “fresh’er”, the tsunami pump running which circulates the water, and a charged battery then I can keep bait alive for a few days of fishing. I keep a bubbler and transfer the bait to the second, standard smaller bait bucket. The bubbler is for when the baitwell is out of water when relocating spots otw. There’s definitely more to it and It’s a helluva lot of work to keep them live and kicking. I don’t do it often but I do it when I anticipate the fishing to be good! Good luck!
