Thinking of Rancho Seco, Lodi lake, or Delta as this spring heats up.  I'm up east of Folsom and don't get down hill but a couple times a year.  Want to fish more places on delta this year. Never tried Lodi and looks healthy, but not sure if there is a launch area now.  Rancho is closest and nice, but tough bite each time i've gone.

Mostly fish during the week to stay away from crowds.  Less traffic in the mornings on weekends is a plus.

Barge canal area in West sac is good. Jefferson ave. Search it on ncka. Tutorial available from the master!
my new name should be Ostridge. Got my head in the sand. Going fishing and letting go of the other stuff I can't control anyway!

I'll be at Seco this Saturday.  Been fishing it for years and know the lake pretty good.  Yes it can be tough, but when the bite is on, it is on.  Perfect time of the year to get the grand slam, trout, bass, bluegill and crappie.  If you come out, I'll be the fly fisherman in the float tube.
So long and thanks for all the fish!!!

Yep, you can put a boat on Seco as long as you only use an electric motor.  If you have a gas motor, you just need o put a bag around the bottom of the motor.

So long and thanks for all the fish!!!

See you out there, I'll be in my float tube, I have a rod holder so you will see rods sticking up from my float tube.  Pretty easy to spot, usually the only float tube out there.

For me Rancho is like a big pond. Only about 50 feet deep. It stays full year round so lots of vegetation around the shoreline.  Best luck I've had is with 5 inch soft swimbaits and soft jerkbaits.

Just noticed that this weekend is close to the full moon. I just wonder if bass will be biting or loving.

Skunked at Rancho. Normal day for me.

Many surprises. The solar panel fields, price to get launch ($15), and park closes at 3:30.

Water temp was 55 at 8am and 58 when I left. Counted almost 20 craft on the water. All the grass shallow is still brown and didn't see a single small fish. Sonar showed groups of fish at 20-25. Couldn't get any to bite ( dropshot, ned,Shakey). Saw one bed shallow in a Northside cove, but no one was home.

Nice to see some other NCKA folks out there
unfortunately a skunk for me
seemed to be common , though did find
some folks catching trouts from the bank - soaking power bait
one dude said he caught a couple crappies with fly setup - said it was a gnat fly, small black fly
one other guy caught two small bass shortly after launching around noon, using plastic worms I think
bunch of folks (like me) with nothin
but as one lady on the water said....hell of a lot better than working!
good day.  I'll go back again, maybe pack a fly rod with a few flies and maybe pack some power bait....just in case I need to get the skunk off

lates,
Brian.
