Hello NorCal Kayakers,

I've been spearfishing for over 15 years. Dang, it's been that long?
Anyways, I still enjoy spearfishing but want to add kayak fishing.

I've known about his site and have met some of you already.
Just wanted to reintroduce myself and get ideas on how to properly rig my yak for pole fishing, spearfishing, and crabbing.
Safety is important so I need to learn more about safety equipment. I have a Trident 15.

I'm getting older so tips on how to save the old body to load, travel, and fish will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Alex

Welcome to the community, Alex.  Best of luck with your goals.  Devotion of time to each different activity before trying to do a multi-tasking day = my advice.   :smt001

Hi Alex, welcome  :smt006

You can always lift one end of kayak at a time and load the 2nd end afterwards. Happy fishing!

Hi Alex, what type of vehicle/rack are you loading your boat onto? I use a homemade pvc rack extension that allows me to lift the bow of my revo up first. I then reposition myself behind the boat and slide it up holding onto the rear handles. This makes loading my kayak onto my Prius much easier. I also recommend getting some bait wraps with multiple pockets that load horizontally. You can find them in all shapes and sizes on ebay. These bait wraps really help keep my jigs and swimbaits organized and in good shape. They dry out much quicker and they are easy to get in and out of your center console. What type of spearfishing do you do, free dive or scuba? I would imagine you know of some great ledges and rockpiles!
