Hi all, just curious of any recommendations on kayaking boots. I’ve been wearing some bulky insulated rain boots but they get pretty hot when temps get above 70 degrees. I end up wearing water shoes when temps go up. I have been looking at the NRS Boundary boots but am worried they won’t fit my large calves. Any advice is appreciated.

I'm happy with the NRS Boundary boots.  The neoprene uppers do stretch a little bit.

NRS has free shipping, in both directions, so no loss if they don't fit.

What size shoe? I can measure the calf on my boundary boots for you if that would help.

If you want to wear your water shoes then I would suggest the NRS Boundary Socks with Hydrocuff - $84.95 (Yes, $15.00 less than the Boundary Boots for Socks :smt104)
https://www.nrs.com/product/2347/nrs-boundary-socks-with-hydrocuff

Like PelagicPredator said, NRS has free shipping both ways. You should order the Boots and Socks and try them out to see if you like the fit and size.

However, Be advised.. The Boundary Socks are currently out of stock and has been since last year with shipment due in June 2021 per NRS. I've been waiting for a pair myself since December and recently received the Boundary boots from that same order two weeks ago.

You can wear a kayak specific pants or bibs or even a drysuit with socks. I wear a Kokatat Hydrus bib for freshwater for cold days and a Kokatat Angler Drysuit for the ocean. Your whole body stays warm and dry with the right under garments. I like the NRS Wetshoe for cold water and Columbia water shoes if the water isnt too cold.

I never figured out how to get the stink out of my neoprene booties. I don't wear them anymore, but I kind of miss my stinky booties. Although I never tried it, I always figured those booties would make great catfish bait...
Are you pondering what I’m pondering?

For some reason my NRS paddle wetshoes haven't gotten stinky. I always wear them with my drysuit (has socks), so maybe that helps. They have held up great.

Hey Fishnbro, I use Sealskinz waterproof cold weather knee length socks & NRS paddle shoes. I put my socks on first, then NRS Ultra John, then paddle shoes. I’ve been using this setup since Nov 2019 & as long as I don’t wade past my knees my feet stay dry.
I like that the paddle shoes dry faster with the larger opening from the zipper sides, I don’t like when the zipper gets full of sediment. I fish in the Port of Sacramento / Deep Water Channel which is pretty gross so I give everything a good rinse after each use and nothing smells after dozens of trips.
