Planning a trip to Idaho this summer.   Boat and kayaks.   Maybe starting Boise and then north to Lake Pend Oreille.   The boat on the big lakes for Kokanee, walleye, bass and the kayaks in small waters.  Hobie i11s for the yaks, so not white water, trout streams. Suggestions, recommended places?,

Done a little fishing out that way.  Snake River, Brownlee Reservoir.  Been wanting to try Lake Cascade outside of Boise, it holds state record yellow perch.

You might post on NWKA, probably get some better local insight on there.

I heard there is some great bass fishing and even sturgeon on the Hell's Canyon Section of the Snake River, not too far from Riggins, ID.  We did some shore fishing along the Salmon river while in Riggins and did a great 1 day rafting trip on the lower Salmon.  The summer bass fishing on the 2-3 day overnight trips in Hell's Canyon sounded pretty legendary after talking with the guides we befriended.

We took the jet boat from Lewiston to the dam a couple years ago.  One guy had a spinning rig.  We caught a few smallies on worms at the stops.  We took the Salmon 1 day raft trip out of Riggins and saw a lot of smallies by the beach when we stopped for lunch.   I can imagine really good fishing.  He Snake out of Lewiston had a few shore fishermen and a couple guides sturgeon fishing.  Saw one hooked, but not the landing on a guide boat.

I was stationed in Idaho and fishing there was fantastic. We used to find all these little small streams an hours drive east or west of the base and fish for trout. Got lots of them too and it got boring. CJ Strike which is just below the base at Mt. Home used to be a great place for all types of fish from trout to perch and everything in between, even sturgeon below the dam.

On the east side of the state as well as where you are going there are many rivers and streams to fly fish for several trout species too.

Might make it to Mountain Home.   My uncle ran an upholstery shop there when the base was open.

If you can get out to the Mt Home Reservoir there used to be some real good trout fishing there. Even in the little stream below it.
In late summer when the water would get real low, Idaho Fish and Wildlife used to let people net the trout out of the stream when I was up there in the 70's and 80's
Up the road a bit is a small lake off the highway a bit where we used to hunt Chukars, but do not recall the name of it. Good trout in there too.

Then there are two more small lakes near Brueneu known as Crane Falls and Cove Arm. Can't for the life of me remember how to get there, but they are fun to fish for crappie and trout. Some huge bass live in Cove Arm

The base is still open up there and has been a consolidated wing for decades. I was there during the F-111 days and most of us stationed together back then still keep in touch.

My buddy has a place near Hayden Lake so I've fished that a few times and done well on Smallmouth.

I had a blast catching crappie on Brownlee last September. Caught smallies and perch too.

It was all boat fishing though! It's a large reservoir and the wind definitely picks up.
