On a recent low tide excursion, one of many great clusters of Abalone observed. How many do you count?

Nice Capture
We’ve observed clusters of Black Abs in recent Low Tides locally

19 to 21....couple might be rocks haha

Good to see clusters.  I dove sonoma co. a week or two ago, saw plenty of mediums and (pre-closure) legal size.

That tide pool is special. It's got seaweed and no urchin. I wonder if you guys can see an obvious improvement in terms of the seaweed and urchin situation. It's been too long since I saw abs. Before the closure, the ones I saw hardly had any meat on them.

In addition to all the Abs, bunch more kelp and less urchins, there are noticeably more starfish.

Only place there’s  any algae for them to eat is intertidal.  You probably saw the kelp stalks with the tops eaten off by the Abs out a little deeper.   Amazed me when I seen a similar scene.

This area had that condition previously. There are some tops on the stalks now in the intertidal zone and patches of nereocystis just outside. The algae change and increase in sea stars seem to have coincided. It is encouraging!
