Found, blue milk crate at Doran. Middle of road. Pick up later at weimarian camp #70
my new name should be Ostridge. Got my head in the sand. Going fishing and letting go of the other stuff I can't control anyway!

Come on people!  Some photos and list of who took the honors this year for us homebound folks.  Good thing I ended up cancelling.  Tested positive for COVID and I would not want to have spread that around to all my friends.

Miss you all!

Arrived Thursday to beautiful weather,  ocean flat with no wind. Friday was a different story woke up in the early morning to a collapsed tent, and howling winds. The forecast was for 12 mph wind with gusts to 20. Waited a while to see if it would calm down but it didn’t happen.

My first three crabbing trips were total failures with sea lions getting my bait (salmon), and mangling my traps. This was going to be my last try at crabbing. I decided to go for it but didn’t go out past the jetty. I switched from traps to 1 hoop, and 1 conical hoop, and switched to chicken.

I was doing 30 minute pulls, and it was taking to much effort against the wind so I went in between pulls. Started getting some nice rock crabs but no dungeness. I think I had about 8 rocks in my burlap sack but when I reached for it to add another it was gone. Not sure what happened probably just let go of it or didn’t get all the way in the back.

Bummer as it’s starting to look like another one of my typical crabbing trips. Went back to camp picked up another bag, and started over. With steady 30 minute pulls I ended the day with 10 rocks, and 1 dungy. Didn’t see many out on the ocean, and it turned out that most just stayed in the bay.

For day two the weather was nice with minimal swell. Decided to go out a ways past the jetty this time. Right on the first pulls I starting getting keeper dungeness 3 on the first, and no less than 1 on each pull after that. Ended at 11am with 9 dungy, and 2 more large rock. Two days of crabs (22) cooked, chilled, and iced in time for the awards.

Not a bad birthday present.

Birthday?  Happy Birthday :smt001, tough stuff on the dropped sack.  As you know I let 3 setups slip into the sea never to be retrieved and this happened in the 1st hour of my launch.  What a beautiful deflation but all was redeemed throughout the event hanging out with a solid community.  My lesson landed in the realm of “been there done that” or “not gonna do that again.”  Congrats to all the winners and thanks for the swag Victor!  Great day, fun people. :smt006

Happy Bday Mark. Glad things turned around for you.  :smt001

Another awesome crabfest in the books. I didnt take many pictures this event. The good reason was i was too busy having a good time and partying with good friends not seen in a while. Some great peeps who showed up to my site.  :smt006
