I have the lighter weight cart for my Hobie.   I have a few largemouth fishing spots that will require some vigorous energy to access.  No rough stuff, but some longer trails.

Are the cart themselves identical?  Only the wheels are different?!

The heavy duty cart is $200++.  Just buying new wheels for my cart will only be $100ish.

The carts the same?  Any Home Depot wheel options?

Same boat here (with the cart) and i was thinking about the same. I stopped because I'm pretty sure the diameter and width of the wheels are both different (meaning the axles need to be longer)

Unless things have changed on the design the past few years, I don't think the big beach wheels will fit on the small hobie cart.  I had the small cart many years ago and tried to see if my big wheels would fit on them.

Honestly, if you have the beach wheeleez, its all you'll ever need anyways.

I have 5 different Hobie Cars (Don't ask me why?) and my experience is that heavy-duty wheels would fit into the light-duty frame.
If you don't want to spend $100 on new wheels, you might consider the following Shepherd Hardware 9596 10-Inch Semi-Pneumatic Rubber Tire.
I replaced my light-duty wheels with these wheels and happy with them.  These wheels are slightly heavier than the Hobie heavy duty wheels.

i'm sure the two types of wheels are interchangeable.  my question was really about the frame.  am i giving up any frame strength by simply swapping out the wheels?

i found a string of bodies of waters.  smaller lakes.  i have to haul my boat down a trail, paddle across a small shallow lake, portage across a levee, and drop in to chase GIANT bass.  the game warden told me there are GIANTS there and nobody fishes them except from the banks..and the Giants are not accessible.

my friend fished it and caught a 10 lb on his third cast on a sassy shad.  i need to do this.  just waiting for spring.
