Hi All,

I'm new to kayak fishing.  Normally fish out of a boat, but it's a lot of work to get the boat out and cleaned up at the end of the day.  Did a bunch of research and decided on a slayer 10.

Hoping to get my feet wet at Lodi Lake, and comfortable on a kayak when it arrives.  Also looking at the Port of Sacramento.  Please let me know of any other locations for beginners that do not have much boat traffic.

I slow down for kayakers, and even other boaters if they have lines in the water.  However, I know not every boater does that, so I'm looking for a safe place to get comfortable first.

Thanks

Welcome to NCKA e46Phreak.  I would also add Cosumnes river preserve to your list once duck hunting season is over.   :smt006

Welcome e46

Lodi lake is definitely a safe place to get comfortable (always wear a pfd regardless).  A great place to practice for emergencies in a relatively safe place.  Small lakes that only allow electric motors are always good places to build skills until your confidence level and ability are in sync.

Have a great time with your new yak

how far are you willing to drive?

i used to be nervous around boat wakes..but after a few sessions with some wake boats and overly friend jet-ski pilots..
i'm good.  it is much less dramatic than you imagine..trust me;  my imagination is wildly over exaggerated. :)

Hi Vash,

I'm looking to stay local to the Sacramento area.  I normally fish the north and east delta.
