Any recommendations? I currently have some health issues that are making sitting down pretty painful. I am thinking about spring and kayak fishing and that will probably only make my condition worse. Looking for a good cushion I can sit on for my hobie revo 16

For a pre-2015 Hobie seat, this works well, although it's crazy expensive for what you get:

I had one and it lasted several years. If you have the lawn chair style of seat, I have no experience with that, but I'd think it might be difficult to improve on that.

I have this one; It's a total game changer. Keeps me in the boat for many hours longer than I otherwise could.

Any thoughts as to how that would hold up in water?  Is it closed cell foam, or like a sponge?

if your question was directed at me... the answer is that it is fairly spongy. however, it dries quickly. i used it over 60x last year, including many surf launches. It's no worse for the wear and for the price, i can always grab another.

i was standing in line at Costco.  i look up and saw a seat cushion.  it was cheap, thick, kinda like memory foam.  i ziptied it to my seat.  so much more comfortable.  IIRC it was $25.  i have gotten it wet and it hasnt sponge up too much.  i assume it will float.

i just ziptied a mesh lumbar support on the back and my goodness, i am now ready for any all day adventure.  the lumbar thing was $15 for two of them (amazon)

i love ZIPTIES.  i will post a pic tonight of my kayak throne.

For years I've used a gel filled foam wheelchair cushion. They last about a year of heavy use. The gel and foam together helps my tailbone injury when sitting all day in my kayak.

This is the one i've been using after trying ALL types. You can adjust the height by amount of air. I put it UNDER the main seat flap and attach it with zip-tie to the main seat. so it always is with the seat.
Some sit too high, some worked great, then eventually absorbed water, fell apart or just disintegrated. I estimate over $200 worth of "cushions" before this one.

I was out practicing my back-hand cast and saw my seat.

Here is my set up.  Cushion and lumbar support.
