I have been reading on all the various ways folks are setting up their light weight traps. Adding weight. Adding weight to the doors to help keep them closed. How much weight do you add? Weights on the doors?
I had been adding a rubber band to help close the doors should I just weight the doors instead? What day you?

4 or 5 # diving weight ziptied to the floor of the trap.

I used lead wire for the doors.  Wrapped about 1-2 oz at the center of each door, making sure it didn't affect closing.

I use 5# to 10# rebar zip tied to the bottom and 2 to 3 oz weights on each door. If you soak overnight, for a long period, or in strong current you have to do this or else your doors will stay open and traps will move.

I will put about 8lbs in each trap. Think I will stick with my rubber bands on the doors. It works well. It will keep the door closed even if pot is sitting at an angle in case it lands on something at the bottom. Think I will add some zinc as well.

I use 4 pounds in each square Danielson. I tried 8 for a while until I had to leave the traps out for 5 days because of a huge swell. When I pulled the traps the ones with 4 pounds came up easy and didn't move much. The one with 8 pounds dug into the sand and it took a while to pop it loose from the sand.

I also cut the bottoms of the doors with bolt cutters so they don't get stuck in the sand yet still hit the bottom piece of metal at the base of the door.

Don't get too crazy with weight. Make sure you  have 20% line remaining and it should be fine. If over night you may need weight
