Trolled out to about 3 miles straight out from Pedro looking for birds etc and about as far south, then came in between Montara and devil's slide and trolled back up the inside for nada  Never found the birds/bait

Maybe north?

Water was lumpy but wind never got out of hand

Blue:  you need to do a roadtrip up here and we'll go out long range from Trinidad or Humboldt Bay for more of a sure thing.  A local charter boat captain - Phil Glen of the Shellback, same guy who Hawk was talking about mothershipping with - said (Eureka's Times Standard) he's fished the same area for a month for regular limits for his clients.  The fish are from 200-300'/3.5 to 5 miles from the jaws of Humboldt Bay and often even closer there and at Trinidad, and 20-30#er reports have become very regular.  The ocean's been weird-flat too, but the winds are unpredictable at times.  If you want to come up I'll take a day off to go offshore with you.
