Hello all,

My name is Adam and I moved from Santa Cruz to Foresthill in Placer County a little over 1 year ago. Things are finally starting to settle down enough for me to start getting out there and exploring and one of the things I've really been looking forward to is doing some fishing.

I just bought a barely used (3 times) Ascend H12 kayak from a neighbor and I'm in the process of preparing it for fishing. I'll start a mod thread at some point to share my progress and personalizations but for now I'm focused on doing just enough to make it a little more functional for the purpose and learning enough to get out there safely and be productive. The threads on cold water safety and risk management were a useful start and I'll be searching for info on cold water attire and other recommendations to help get prepared. I'm looking forward to getting out on some of the local rivers, lakes and the delta in the near future.

It would be great to meet up with some of you locally for an outing so I'm not learning by myself.  So far I've been somewhat of a hermit due to the move, projects around the property and of course COVID19...... I can't wait for all that to go back to whatever the new normal will be, but it seems that this sport/hobby is pretty well suited to support responsible meetups so no time like the present.

Thanks so much for allowing me to join the site and benefit from all the shared knowledge and resources on here.

Welcome. Do you own a gold pan?
There's always money in the banana stand.

Not yet but I should probably get one and try panning at some point.  :cowboy_smoke:
