Anyone ever try using the non-collapsible promar pots off of a kayak? Im not a big fan of the collapsibles for many reasons, especially the doors. I feel they make it hard for crab to get in and easy for them to get out. I'm wondering if someone has an opinion on the design of this specific one, if it works better than the collapsibles, and whether it's worth the hassle of having a non-collapsible. Cheers

If this is the Promar TR-530C2 then it seems that it is the heaviest duty non-commercial pot I could find.  It weighs around 20 lbs so you probably won't need to add extra weight in the Pacific.  I learned the hard way.  I left some cages out at Stinson this past week-end overnight and did not weigh them down.  After battling 6-7 ft surf to get back out, I could not find them. :(
The collapsible look like the same design but with different material.  Depending on where and how long you plan on keeping them out, you may need to add some weight.  I'll let you know once I use them since I just ordered the collapsible for compact travel on a kayak.  Wish me luck!
