So I just got my kayak and have been aching to take it out.  As I live in Alameda, the rockwall seemed a good place to test things out and get used to everything, and maybe if I was lucky I could catch hookup to some winter Halibut.  I went from 9am to 2pm, using anchovies and a bouncing ball rig.  As many of you probably could have guessed, it was sloooow.  Not a single bite.

Anyways! Just thought I'd give a report!

Thanks for the report. Any sign of herring out there? Birds and sea mammals?

I saw a few pelicans diving, some seagulls scattered about, and a few sparse flocks of birds whose names I'm not familiar with.  None of the flocks were huge like you sometimes see.

I didn't see any much out there.  Only signs of fish I was were an extremely fleeting flash of something small.  Too quick to tell if it was a herring.

Nice.  Lived in SC for 5 years and would love to fish it now that I have the yak.  I'd love to join if you go.

I've been curious what bites in the winter.

Nothing to report is a meaningful report!

Thank you.

January begins trout fishing for me until april. They plant some brutes near by.
If i am lucky i will take a trip  into the mountains for some livelier  trout on light line.

I have been skunked at the Alameda Rock Wall too many times.  My best was two fish (one halibut and one striper) back in April 2020.

Thanks for the report, keep on fishing!
