Sportsman’s Warehouse,...when am I going to learn?

Hey y’all, just a heads up, check your gear when you purchase/pick up, before you walk away, especially at biggun retailers like Sportsman’s Warehouse.

Sportsman’s Warehouse in Brentwood sold me an open floor model Lowrance Reveal 7, without telling me, and charged me full price. I happened to have a discount (not floor model discount tho!) and is why I bought it there,...but dam,...what the hell? Selling an expensive piece of electronics, a used one, without telling the customer?

I contacted the store and they will refund me in full. The fishing floor manager told me it was store policy to just sell whatever,...it all goes, even if it’s used, scratched, mucked up, with who knows what missing. The transducer has a huge deep scratch in it too. I’ve had bad experiences with these types of stores before,...when the fuck am I gonna wise up?

Now I’ve gotta drive my ass all the way back out there,...figure I’ll go soak some dough at Contra Loma while I’m out there,....but dam.

Can’t you convince them for a major discount, say 65% off and use it?  Not sure a scratch on transducer will affect its function...  I love cosmetic discounts.  If I could walk away with a 800$+ ff for 300$  I’d consider it...

Definitely ask for the store manager when you go, (no just any manager). They suck, but in general the sm’s will try to make it right via a gift card, etc.

Also see if they’ll honor the former milpitas store NCKA discount.

Funny. I ordered a Helix 5 from wholesale marine online a couple of weeks ago, and they sent me a used on as well with wires attached to the unit and salt residue all around. They gave me a refund but only after I sent pictures of it.

Did they make you send it back?

Yeah. That's the only way they would issue an RMA number for me to send it back.

Followup report,...

Received outstanding customer support from the store/fishing manager Jack Snyder. Refunded the unit in full and apologized for the idiotic company policy of selling whatever to whoever. He indicated he would have a chat with regional managers, in his words, “for what it’s worth”.

Lesson learned, again.

Sportsman will change.  They have been purchased by Bass Pro.  Will be Less choice in gear now.
