Any other duck hunters out there use their carcasses for crab bait? If so, just whole, feathers and all (other than the breast you cut out to eat)? Or prepare them any other special way??

I think I’ll give it a try. May as well re-purpose what I can.

I myself was considering trying that (duck meat) combined with squid in a crab snare. Let us know how that works out.

I've used some old Bufflehead breasts and legs for snaring with decent results but I've never tried using the leftover carcass in my traps - let me know how it turns out if you try it.

I used snow goose carcasses and they did well.  The major thing is that they float so you may need to add a little weight to your pot.  Also it did look like I shoved a dead sea gull into there which is also a funny image.

We've used both duck carcasses and snow geese.  Something as big as a goose with wings still attached needs to be tied to the bottom of the pot.  We did have problems with wings getting jammed in the door and letting the crab leak out once they had picked the carcass clean.
