I’ve had a blast with my Revo 16, and took good advice from Bradly on rigging. I essentially scottified the kayak, putting 2 Scotty side mounts on the left pocket and 1 on the right. Some of you may question why, but I just like a clean deck and gunnel, and I don’t have a use for the pockets.

But previously owning an Outback and really missing t-tracks, especially for a GoPro, I was scheming a plan to turn the right Scotty into a multi tool station. And so I bought the double track that Bradly recommended, and unlike his kayak, where the track is at the front gunnel, I mounted my track to a 1/2” plastic plate that is connected to my Scotty.

Here are some sample use cases. I can rotate the Scotty to create other setups as well. The one with the rod and FF folded is my launch/landing position.

Looks very nice.

But, personally, I think Railblaza mounts are better in general, and especially in the tight space on a Revo 16 (or AI) deck. As compared to Scotty, the Railblaza Sideport mounts take up a fraction of the space inside the pockets, and Railblaza Starport mounts don't require a giant hole. They also have some mounts that fit on AI aka bars (or other rail systems) that are really nice. The positive locking mechanism is a plus too, although it can be challenging to unlock with cold, wet fingers.

Be Careful having accessories mounted close to you. While they maybe convenient to access, they can become obstruction hazard when boarding a kayak in an event of a capsize.

For sure. I always launch and land with the port side completely clean. While cruising I do have a rod holder (and a downrigger when salmon trolling) on that side, so it will be in the way. I think I’m this situation I’ll have to unmount something to get back in.

That’s why I also favor rod floats over leash. I capsized one time and the rod was floating next to the kayak getting in my way. I had to toss it away from me/kayak. Can’t do that to a rod without floatation. Worst case scenario, toss everything that’s in the way. They can be replaced.
