Hello All,

Just wanted to introduce myself as I have heard a lot of good things about the people and knowledge on this forum. I am interested in fishing in the ocean for rock cod, ling cod and crabbing. As well as discussing gear, tackle and set-up. Also, looking to meet up with other anglers to fish in the ocean (Sonoma Coast). I have been kayaking rivers, lakes and the delta for a while now and just completed a surf zone lesson to learn launching and landing properly. Looking forward to the next adventure.

Hello Mark,

I took my surf zone class through Blue Water Kayaking out of Point Reyes Station and took a 3 hour private lesson with Brian. My instructor Brian was great and a ACH certified instructor. Only downside is with the scheduling and communication from the front office, took a month to get a date (they are focusing on trips). There is also Liquid Fusion Kayaking our of Fort Bragg, potentially thinking of doing another class up there or with Brian.

Thanks for letting me know. I have taken several kayaking classes including 2 surf zone classes. What I learned in the surf zone classes is that without taking the time to practice what was learned, I will be launching from protected locations. My son will be out of the military next month, and has expressed an interest in kayak fishing so I'm hoping he will take some basic classes.
