I lost my wedding ring on my birthday throwing a cast net for herring at Ferry Point. Hired a salvage diver to go after it. He used a metal detector to find it, took about an hour. Probably more difficult in the surf, I think things move around a lot. One of the very experienced lost his  MirageDrive at Crabfest. He lost it right next to shore at high tide. He spent the rest of the day looking to no avail.

I heard someone else flipped too at Bolinas, yard sale.
Just keep an eye on the waves and water and you’ll be fine.
Any luck on your lost gears?
I think I know what I’m doing?

And most important of all, be sure to have your GoPro on, as you might end up with an epic launch/landing video...

Nope, SS is likely gone.  Oh well.  I gave my kayak a full flushing on the inside.  Cleaned everything including the pool noodles.  Next time out at HMB, more bolinas sand everywhere on the deck and inside.  Where did it come from!!? Cleaned everything out again, then went fishing out of HMB a week later and what do you know? More bolinas sand on my deck!  That shit is everywhere!  Lol
Also, I rebuilt my avet mxj and my penn squall 30LW.  Both were frozen with sand from the incident.  Both reels cost about the same, but holy crap... The Penn is a thousand times more complicated than the Avet.  The Avet has a beautiful design and simple mechanism - super easy to clean and regrease.  For that kind of money, it's Avet all day long for this reason alone!!

I'll believe it, I've started a beach on my driveway from just taking the kayak on and off the truck.

I had a similar experience last month when I stepped off the boat too early and it flipped on the incoming set that I couldn't dodge in time. Lost only a water bottle and a 2lb lead, but the sand there is beyond pervasive. I too rebuilt the Avet afterwards and was delighted by its simplicity, though I did need some help from the wife, who has experience with exploded diagrams.

I think my car still has the Bobo sand all over the trunk....
